Staying connected

Fibre in and around town, solid mobile coverage and a growing remote-work community — Bonaire is more connected than its size suggests.

Connectivity on Bonaire is good and improving. Fixed broadband — including fibre in many areas — and mobile networks are provided by a handful of local companies. Telbo and Flamingo TV are the confirmed fixed-fibre providers; Digicel and Flow/Chippie are the mobile-focused brands. As always on an island, availability and speed vary by exact address, so check the specific property.

Internet at home

Telbo offers fibre-to-the-home (up to 100 Mbps) reaching a majority of the island — listed areas include Belnem, Hato, Nikiboko, Republiek, Rincon, Tera Kora and parts of Kralendijk — plus ADSL and IPTV. Flamingo TV provides residential fibre (tiers up to 500 Mbps) and digital TV, though the top speeds aren’t yet available everywhere. When choosing a home for remote work, confirm what the specific address can actually get; a backup mobile connection is a sensible safeguard.

Mobile & getting set up

Prepaid and postpaid mobile plans are easy to arrange with a local SIM once you have ID (Telbo’s Kla Mobile, plus Digicel and Flow/Chippie). Coverage across the populated island is solid. Note you generally buy SIMs in Kralendijk rather than at the airport. Setting up home internet may involve an installation appointment and a deposit, so arrange it early in your move.
